- GPD Win 5 is a hybrid of playwork and an ultra mobile workstation
- It is driven by Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU de AMD with 16 cores and Radeon 8060s
- The 565G compact device includes 120 Hz 120Hz touch screen and double fan cooling system
GPD has presented the Win 5, a portable PC that extends to horcajadas between the line between the portable games console and the mobile work station.
With its compact factor, the device works with the powerful APU Ryzen Ai Max+ 395 of AMD (Strix Halo), a processor that has so far appeared mainly on mini PC and only a handful of laptops, including Zbook ultra 14 g1a, Asus, Z13 and Emdoor EM-959-NM16ASH-1.
While Win 5 looks good and has a lot of power, its expected price, around $ 2000, will firmly put it in enthusiastic territory.
Double fan cool
The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is based on the 4NM process of TSMC and has 16 CPU Zen 5 and 32 threads, marking up to 5.1GHz. There is a Radeon 8060 GPU with 40 computing units that are executed at 2.9 GHz.
The chip also offers AI acceleration, with 16 tops of its NPU and 38 tops combined with the performance of the CPU.
To maintain that hardware under control, the Win 5 uses a double fan cooling system, which offers consistent thermal management even under heavy loads, which would otherwise be a concern for such a small device.
The laptop supports up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM to 8000MHz and NVME PCIE 4.0 SSD storage options ranging from 1TB to 4TB.
The storage can be exchanged from the rear panel, and more SSD mini expansion slots are included.
The screen is a 7-inch H-IP touch screen at the 1920×1080 resolution with an 120Hz update rate and FREESYNC premium support.
Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The ports include two USB-C (one at USB 3.2 speeds and another in USB 4 with external GPU support), an 3.5 mm audio connector and card grooves.
Despite its undoubted power, the device weighs only 565 grams and measures 267 x 111 mm, which makes it smaller than a steam cover.
The 80h battery supports a fast charging up to 180W.
The Win 5 looks like a standard hand game system, with dual analog sticks, a D-Pad, triggers and action buttons, but includes extras such as a digital fingerprint reader.
GPD WIN 5 PC Mobile work station will be available to buy worldwide as of October 17, 2025.
