GPD has made a name by building compact games and ultra -adjectable laptops, often blurring the lines between the console and the PC.

Energy efficiency concerns
The “GPD STX Halo Handheld” prototype shared in X by HXL (see above), shows a 3DMark Timespy score of 10,393, with a 10,366 graphic score and a 10,552 CPU score. That is a pronounced jump of what laptops based on current Point Strix can achieve.
The chip inside, which is an Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060s graphics, paste 16 CPU Zen cores 5 and 40 Adna 3.5 computer units.
The most powerful integrated GPU of AMD to date, offers more than double the GPU hardware found in chips such as Ryzen 7 8840U or 8945hs.
Based on the reference figures in the HXL image, the GPD prototype could overcome current generation hand computers by a wide margin.
However, energy efficiency remains a concern. As Videocardz points out, Strix Halo has a predetermined TDP of 120W, which would normally be too much for a hand computer. However, architecture can climb up to 20-25W, and early tests indicate that it still retains a performance advantage over Strix Point even when it accelerated.
It is not clear if this is close to being a final product or simply an internal test unit, since GPD has not yet made any official announcement.
That said, the prototype points to a possible future in which hand consoles offer desk class power, and we are definitely here for that.
