Even so, the state of Dimitrov was in the air when it left the court for a medical waiting time. However, when he returned to the Court, he shook Sinner’s hand to say he could not continue.

The service was the adjustment point, since Dimitrov won the fourth game of the third set.

The crowd of the center of the court gave Dimitrov a strong ovation despite the circumstances, while packed his bag to leave the game and the tournament.

“I don’t take this as a victory at all,” Sinner said after the game, showing Dimitrov respect in the process.

“I don’t know what to say. He is an incredible player. I think we all saw this today. He has been very unfortunate in recent years.”

Dimitrov was playing well in Wimbledon, where he hoped to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2014, his deepest career in the tournament to date.

But the injury has been a problem for Dimitrov, especially in Grand Slams. This is the fifth consecutive tournament that has been forced to retire, more recently in the France Open due to a thigh ailment in the first round.

In 2024, he left the fourth round with a dry break during his match against Daniil Medvedev.
