Gujranwala heads Punjab in tax recovery


Gujranwala:

The Special Tax Control, Taxes and Narcotics Department Gujranwala has achieved the highest tax recovery among all Punjab districts during fiscal year 2024-25. Against an objective of RS3.66 billion, the department raised more than 4.52 billion rupees, exceeding its objective for a significant margin, according to officials.

The offcials said the performance was possible through a strategy led by the director specialty and taxes to Sobia Malik to keep all departmental teams on alert throughout the year.

The main contributions come from motor vehicle tax, property tax, professional tax and special tax sectors.

During the year, the department raised RS2.39 billion in motor vehicles taxes, exceeding the objective of RS .87 billion. In the property tax category, collections reached RS1.5 billion, while professional tax collections were located at RS955.2 million.

Other recoveries included RS510.3 million of the category “On Highway”, RS104.9 million residential properties of high value and RS60.5 million through special taxes.
