The former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Hafeez, has asked questions about the Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan selection in the National Cricket team, pointing to his low continuous performance in recent years.
Speaking in a place YouTube Channel, Hafeez clarified that key players are those who win games and in recent years, both Rizwan and Babar have failed to offer winning actions.
“Calling them to key players would be wrong and unfair. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not the key Pakistan Cricket players at this time. Key players are those who win games for Pakistan.
“If we observe the last year and a half or two years, players who show constant performance are Salman Ali Agha, Saeem Ayub and Hasan Nawaz. Why are we not talking about them? They are current players winning matches for Pakistan,” he said.
Hafeez also questioned the place of Babar and Rizwan in the team, saying that they need to justify their points as players.
“I think Babar and Rizwan should worry about their positions on the team. They must demonstrate their value as good players first; the key players come later. Both were good in the past, but now they are not delivering results,” he said.
He advised to recover the form and criticized the performances of Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi too.
“Both must completely get involved in the game, otherwise, the results will not arrive. The same goes for Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi, they are not giving winning performances for Pakistan games,” he added.
Hafeez emphasized that Pakistan’s Cricket does not need great names, but players who can constantly perform during the next decade.
“We should focus on players who can contribute for the next 10-15 years. Our media criticize one or two players and publish one or two, which is wrong. We need to talk about those who are really acting,” he said.
In addition, he criticized the players for reproving Pakistan’s Cricket in the countryside while he had strong public relations campaigns on social networks. Hafeez urged the PCB to take action.
“If we want to improve the Cricket of Pakistan, those in the CA rooms and those that execute plans on the ground should address these problems immediately,” he concluded.
