He also made it clear that he will not visit the wizarding world again.
“I feel like I would be too old to play my original character, and no, I wouldn’t want to do it again… I’m sick of talking about it, honestly,” he said.
While he’s not interested in returning, Thewlis acknowledged the positive impact the franchise had on young audiences.
“…with Harry Potter, it’s the children. And the children are very impressed and overwhelmed, and it’s very nice to make them happy,” he reflected.
For the unversed, HBO’s upcoming reboot of JK Rowling’s beloved series will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron.
