- HBO More just renewed Neighbors for a second season
- This is the result of a hugely successful first run.
- The current series finale is March 20.
HBO Max just renewed Neighbors for a second season before the documentary’s finale on March 20.
Neighbors had a highly successful first broadcast, averaging more than 2.9 million global multiplatform viewers per episode since its debut. I’m so excited to have him back for more as the A24 docu-series has been a wild ride. I would even consider it one of the best shows on HBO Max right now.
We’ve watched Harrison Fishman and Dylan Redford film for more than two years in which they traveled across the country, immersing themselves in the lives of their neighbors to “capture an intimate, unfiltered portrait of everyday people and document the fundamentally American quests for life, liberty, and property.”

I didn’t expect to invest so much in it, but here we are and we know that more episodes will be on the way soon.
Speaking about the renewal, Nina Rosenstein, HBO’s executive vice president of programming, Late Night & Specials, said in a press release: “Everyone has a neighbor story, and Dylan and Harrison have a knack for finding stories that make you laugh, make you cringe, and make it impossible to look away.
“At a time when even the smallest disagreements can spiral out of control, Neighbors feels hilariously absurd and surprisingly relatable. What makes the show special is not just the stories and people they encounter, but the empathy and humanity they bring to each episode. Season 2 can’t come soon enough!”
Why I’m hooked on HBO’s Neighbors
Look
Being a fly on the wall in these complicated and chaotic disputes has been fantastic and I’ve loved getting to know the different people who appear throughout the show.
Season 1 documents everything from a heated debate between beachgoers and private landowners to an obsession over an 8-foot concrete wall and disagreements over a man who raises cattle on his grandmother’s property.
At first glance, this may not seem so interesting. But we’ve all had neighbors we didn’t like, or even hatedso despite the absurdity of some of these situations, it’s also deeply relatable. Sometimes you will clash with someone and there are things that need to be resolved.
Fishman and Redford place us right in the middle, as if we live on the same street as these people and it’s impossible to look away. Thanks to season 2, I’m really glad I don’t have to do that for a while.
