Heat wave warning emitted when southern districts face abrasing temperatures

The conditions of the heat wave took over several districts in southern Pakistan on Sunday, with temperatures that increase abruptly in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana and Dadu of Sindh.

The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted serious heat wave conditions in most of the country from Monday, and temperatures are expected to rise from 46 to 48 degrees Celsius in Sindh.

A high pressure system on the upper atmosphere will be developed from Sunday, causing excessive heat in the southern half of the country, including Sindh, southern Punjab and Baluchistan, until April 18.

It is predicted that daytime temperatures in these areas will remain from 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal. Meanwhile, the central and northern parts of the country, including Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltist, will see temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees above normal during the same period.

The nights are also forecast that they will remain unusually warm.

The Meteorological Office warned that heat could cause dust storms and wind storms. The authorities have advised the public, particularly children, women and the elderly, who avoid exposure to direct sunlight, remain inside during peak hours and remain hydrated.

Scientists have linked the early arrival of intense summer conditions in southern Asia with climate change, warning that more than one billion people in the region are at risk of heat -related impacts.
