McMahan addressed the situation during his “absolutely not” podcast on Wednesday, where he said that he immediately apologized with Mcilroy and the European team. “I understand my responsibility in this. However, it is a bit interesting because I think there must be some context about what happened exactly.”

McMahan said that he was not clear about his role as host of the first Tee and that he finally understood as his work was to “exaggerate” the crowd. After Friday’s sessions, McMahan said on Saturday he took a different path.

“We went out at full speed,” he recalled. “The word he had achieved from the team was that we needed everyone to get excited, promote. She said that when the noisy crowd made her way in the early hours of Saturday, her entertainment work quickly changed.

“I will assume all the responsibility and I will apologize sincerely with Rory and the European team for saying that. It was very dumb of my part. I did not eat the song. It was like that narrative to leave,” he added later.
