Pakistan’s department of Meteorology (PMD) said on Monday that Karachi remains in control of a heat wave, with high temperatures that are expected to persist in the next 24 hours.

According to the MET office, maximum temperatures are forecast in the city that will range between 39 ° C and 41 ° C, while the minimum registered temperature was 25 ° C.

The relative humidity has reached around 46%, accompanied by dry winds of the northwest that blow at a speed of 4 kilometers per hour.

The department has reported that it is likely that the heat wave persists in the city until April 23, urging the public to stay hydrated.

Meanwhile, several other districts in the rural area of Sindh also continue to face intense heat, with Jacobabad registering 43 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and Shaheed Benazirabad hitting 42 degrees Celsius.

Other parts of northern Pakistan, including Swat and Mingora, experienced heavy rains and sun loungers on Sunday night, bringing temporary relief and colder temperatures.

The Met Office has also predicted strong winds and trigas isolated for the Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kachemira and Gilgit-Baltistan today.

Earlier on Sunday, PMD spokesman, Anjum Nazir Zaighum, explained that the western system interrupted normal air flow, boosting the heat wave.

He pointed out that the marine breeze could return after sunset, but if it remained inactive during the hours of the day, the conditions could get worse.

The department had advised residents to take precautions, urging people to remain inside during the maximum heat, limit trips, remain hydrated and protect vulnerable groups such as children, elderly and women.
