Helium plus allows companies to join the Solana Depin project with only Wi-Fi

Helium, one of the best -known depin projects in Solana, is launching a new service called Helium Plus, aimed at transforming how companies contribute to the helium network.

Helium Plus will allow public Wi-Fi suppliers and companies to join the network using existing Wi-Fi routers, without additional hardware. This will open the door so that users and companies win the native token of the network, HNT, by supporting wireless connectivity while taking advantage of a mobile infrastructure driven by the community.

Decentralized physical infrastructure networks (Depin) are blockchain motor systems that encourage people and organizations to deploy and maintain the infrastructure of the real world, such as wireless networks, rewarding them with cryptographic tokens. These networks change the property and operation of the infrastructure of centralized entities to a distributed model driven by the community.

Helium focuses specifically on decentralized wireless connectivity, which allows users to provide network coverage through “access points” individually implemented. Then, the participants obtain tokens HNT by admitting the transfer of mobile data and expanding the availability of the network.

Before Thursday’s announcement, participating in the Helio ecosystem generally meant implementing physical access points devices that required investment in advance and technical configuration. With Helium Plus, users can use existing Wi-Fi routers, effectively turning any location with Wi-Fi into a helium access point, which facilitates cost load for users who wish to run the network.

“Helium Plus represents a great advance in the way companies can contribute to the helium network,” said Mario Di Dio, general manager of the Helium network, in a press release shared with Coindesk. “It offers instant and low -cost wireless integration, reducing infrastructure costs while creating new sources of income and improving connectivity. The simplicity of our process is key to unlocking the entire potential of this expansion.”
