- The Lenovo Legion Go 2 has leaked in China with prototype units available to buy on second -hand platforms
- The prototype seen in a video in Bilibili is not using the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme
- There is still no confirmation on a launch date or what will be the finished version of the laptop
It has been a while since we had updates on the launch plans or Lenovo schedule for its next PC for hand games, from its announcement and brief exhibition in CES 2025. Now, there is another turn in the story, but not in the way I could wait.
As reported by Videocardz, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 prototype has leaked in China, and it is rumored that the units are available for purchase on a second -hand platform, before its official launch. In a video of Bilibili, it already has a brief dismantling and exhibition, and it is worth noting that the units seem to miss the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.
Instead, it is reported that the Ryzen Z2 processor is using, or at least the Ryzen Z1 Extreme (but older) used (but older). This is not surprising, since Lenovo has technically confirmed that there will be other configurations of the Legion Go 2, since he declared that “the prototype appears in the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.”
However, what is quite strange is the lack of transparency of Lenovo. The Legion Go 2 has been scheduled for a launch at some point in 2025, and it seems that it can be around September, based on launch rumors for Mexico, but we have not yet seen the device beyond its prototype, although it apparently is launched soon.
However, there are some very encouraging news, since the hand computer will use an OLED PURESIGHT touch screen, and what is shown in the Bibyli video, is a view combined with the 8 -inch screen size. While it is likely to cost around $ 1,000, I think the OLED screen can justify it, facing it against competitors such as the OLED steam cover.
Analysis: I am not yet willing to pay $ 1,000 for a PC for hand games, but a slightly lower price for Legion Go 2 could be justified
Regardless of how powerful these devices are turned as the best pc of hand games in the market, I always find it very difficult to recommend any of them that reaches the $ 1,000 mark.
I have had the same idea about the new MSI Claw 8 AI+ and the new MSI Claw A8, but if any device comes to justify it potentially, it is the Lenovo Legion Go 2.
Again, it is still in prototype, so we do not have the complete image of what you will have in the launch, hardware and ergonomics. However, I am willing to bet that the highest configuration will cost $ 1,000 due to the addition of an OLED screen, combined with improved performance using the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme.
Now, I am sure that I will not be the first to mention how unattractive that price sounds, but it is possibly the only laptop that sounds like could it’s worth it. I know that there are other hand computers that use OLED screens and powerful processors, but there is no world in which you are once recommending a PC for hand games that exceeds $ 1,500 (I am looking at you, OnexPlayer).
If the Lenovo GO 2 legion ends up being a price or below the price of $ 899 / £ 899 / AU of MSI Claw 8 AI+, so the price of $ 1,799, then it instantly converts into a easier recommendation, especially with the change of OLED or Nintendo 2 steam, but again, you can still fight to sell with a price that is not affordable.
