KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court Bar Association has strongly condemned the registration of an FIR against advocate Abdul Fattah Chandio, advocate Riaz Ali Solangi and 15 other lawyers, terming it an abuse of legal process for allegedly attacking YouTuber Rajab Butt.
The association noted that the case was filed at the request of a lawyer from outside Sindh without following the proper procedure, which should have been referred through the Sindh Bar Council.
He highlighted that lodging an FIR against other lawyers at the behest of a client is inappropriate and poses a serious threat to the independence of the legal profession. The Bar Association demanded immediate corrective measures to safeguard the rights of the legal community.
On the other hand, the police registered FIR No. 2025/290 at the Municipal Court police station on the complaint of lawyer Ali Ashfaq. He alleged that on December 29, 2025, while accompanying his client Razaq Butt to a bail hearing in a blasphemy-related case, Butt was attacked near the West Building within the Municipal Court premises.
