Hollywood legend Katharine Hepburn wasn’t just a screen icon, she was a perfectionist when it came to her sweets.
Friends and family said she had very strict standards for her favorite treat, only approving of moist, chewy, chocolate-filled brownies.
Anything light or doughy was not suitable for her.
Their ideal brownies, however, were gooey, studded with nuts, and more soft than doughy.
A minimum of flour, a lot of chocolate, sugar, eggs and butter made the recipe a delicious treat.
Hepburn often had her brownies ready for guests or sent them in tins to friends who knew she took chocolate seriously.
If someone served him a brownie that wasn’t good, he didn’t hold back.
He would take a bite, critique the texture and share his own tips, often asking the baker to write them down.
His love for chocolate was also legendary, as in his memoirs he admitted that he could easily eat half a kilo in one sitting.
