The current cold wave is expected to persist in Karachi and across Sindh, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting continued cold and dry conditions for the next three days.

In Karachi, temperatures can drop by as much as 8°C to 9°C during this period, with a maximum temperature range of 25°C to 27°C.

The city today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5°C, accompanied by stronger than usual winds.

The weather office also predicts light rain or drizzle in parts of Sindh, including Sanghar, Tharparkar and Umerkot districts, tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Residents of Karachi and Sindh are advised to prepare for continued cold conditions as no immediate relief is in sight.

Karachi shivers on the coldest night of the season

The port city experienced the coldest night of the season, with temperatures falling into the single digits early Tuesday morning.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 8°C, which represents a decrease of one degree compared to the previous day.

At Jinnah terminal, the temperature dropped further to 6.2 degrees Celsius, while in rural Sindh, Mithi town recorded 0°C.

Cold winds blowing from Balochistan intensified the cold wave in Karachi on Tuesday. Despite moderate wind speeds, the city felt much colder early in the morning. The perceived temperature was 2 to 4 degrees lower than the actual readings due to the effect of wind chill.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the official weather station in Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 8°C, while the Jinnah Terminal weather station reported an even lower temperature of 6.2°C.

Other weather stations in the city recorded varying temperatures: Gulistan-e-Jauhar: 7.5°C, Mauripur: 10°C and Bin Qasim: 11°C.
