wonder man is the latest superhero entry in Marvel Phase 6’s lineup and will feature a metatextual world where we get to see the protagonist, aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams, work his way into a lead role in an in-universe superhero movie, “Wonder Man.”
Interestingly, our Wonder Man has some hidden powers of his own, making him suitable for the role in more ways than the film’s creators would like. The way Simon navigates his rise to Hollywood fame, keeping his powers a secret until he no longer could, and his dynamic with Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley, a former actor on the show, form the main plot of the series.
Interestingly, the trailer keeps a lot of things close to its chest. For example, it doesn’t reveal which villain Wonder Man will fight, the extent of his powers, and, most importantly, his origin. As we’ve come to expect from other Marvel superhero shows like Moon KnightThe origin story of the superhero’s powers forms one of the main plots, especially in the first season. So it will be interesting to see how much of that we get to witness in wonder man.
