Karachi:
The mayor of Karachi, lawyer Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday that the Hub Dam Water Project will open on August 13.
Speaking to the media outside the Karachi registration of the Supreme Court, Wahab said that the propaganda was spreading using old videos with respect to the new channel that supplies water from the Hub dam to the city.
“After 22 years, it is due to the efforts of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) that the city is receiving additional water,” he said.
He said the project, completed at a cost of RS12.8 billion in a record time of 10 months, is ready for the inauguration. “If the propaganda were true, this inauguration would not be happening,” he said.
The mayor clarified that the work in the project has been completed and that test executions are a standard procedure before launching large -scale initiatives. “Such problems are common in concrete work, and the purpose of the tests is to detect and solve problems in advance,” he said.
Wahab added that a one -year warranty period has been established after the completion, according to which the contractor is responsible for the required repairs. He dismissed the accusations against the project as without foundation.
“All standards were maintained during construction. The noise of propaganda is drowning the news of the additional supply of water to the city,” he said.

“Propaganda is spreading to sabotage the water supply project.”
He said that the Hubed dam had previously supplied 100 million gallons of water daily to Karachi, but due to a 45 -year transmission system, the supply had fallen to 60 million gallons per day. “The new channel project will deliver 100 million gallons of water daily,” he said. “After this, the old channel will be repaired. Once both systems are functional, Hub water supply to Karachi will double.”
The project is expected to benefit the residents of the West, Keamari and Central district.
When commenting on federal funds, Wahab referred to previous statements from the governor of Sindh. “He said on television that RS40 billion have been received from the federal government. I remind him that he had promised RS100 billion. If RS40 billion have been received, they transfer them to the KMC account and serve the city.”
He also criticized the muttahida qaumi (MQM) movement, saying that land marketing and looting of “Chinese logging” are remains of his time. “We also remember the bags of the body, extortion and kidnappings for rescue,” he said. “The fundamental problems of the city began during the time of MQM”.
Wahab expressed his willingness to work with other parts for the development of the city. “The hopes of the city are linked to their political leaders,” he said. “We want chaos to end. Everyone must work together for Karachi improvement.”
He added: “I am ready to sit with MQM, Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) or Jamaat-E-Isami for the improvement of the city.”
