The feasibility study of ‘Muree Glass Tourist Train Project’ to connect Islamabad to Murree is expected to be completed by April 30. The National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) has been assigned the task of carrying out the feasibility study.
Once the study is completed, the project will undergo final approval from the relevant forums, after which the contract will be awarded through international bidding. The project will be completed on a public-private partnership basis.
The proposed route of the Glass Sightseeing Train from Islamabad to Murree will cover a total distance of 55 kilometres.
A meeting was held at NESPAK House in Islamabad, chaired by Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, to assign the task of carrying out a feasibility study for a 55 km long glass tourist train from H railway station -9 in Islamabad to Murree.
The meeting aimed to discuss important issues related to the project. Participants shared their thoughts on various aspects of the project.
The meeting was also informed that a feasibility study is being carried out for the 55 kilometer route from Islamabad to Murree, which is expected to be completed by April 30, 2025.
Once the study is completed, the route and cost will be determined, and the contract will be awarded through international bidding.
During the meeting, the provincial minister was briefed by NESPAK representatives about the feasibility study, which will review railways, stations, geological studies, protection of the natural environment and other important issues.
