Paris: Hundreds of fans from Paris Saint-Germain is poured into the streets of Paris on Saturday night to celebrate the first title of the Champions League of their club.
While most followers cheered, sang and danced peacefully, the police arrested almost 300 people after some celebrations became noisy. Fireworks were activated, and the clashes broke out near famous places such as the Stadium of the Fields-Elysées and Parc des princes.
Police used water cannons to control the crowds, since the night of joy was tense in parts of the city.
The Paris Police said the disorder exploded near Champs-Elysées Avenue of the city and the PSG Princess Parc Des Princes stadium, where 48,000 had seen the 5-0 victory against Inter Milan in Munich on large screens.
Most of the almost 300 detained people were suspected of possessing fireworks and causing disorder, said the Paris Police.
The AFP journalists saw the police use a water cannon to prevent a crowd from triumphing.
“The uproarist in the fields-Elysées sought to create incidents and repeatedly contacted the police throwing large fireworks and other objects,” police said in a statement.
Out of Paris, the police said that a car addressed fans who celebrated the victory of the PSG in Grenoble in southeastern France, leaving four people injured, two of them seriously.
All those injured were from the same family, police said.
The driver gave himself to the police and was arrested.
A source close to the investigation said it was believed that the driver had not acted intentionally.
In Paris, most fans showed their joy singing and dancing in the streets, with cars that sound their horns, after their team won the greatest award in European club football for the first time in their history.
A 20 -year -old PSG supporter, Clément, said: “He is so good and deserved! We have a song that talks about our struggles and has not always been easy.
But we recover our faith this year with a team without stars. There are 11 types that play for each other. “
The French president’s office, Emmanuel Macron, said he would receive the victorious players on Sunday to congratulate them.
In a separate message in X, Macron praised a “day of glory for PSG.”
“Bravo, we are all proud,” he wrote. “Paris is the capital of Europe tonight.”
The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, acclaimed him as a “historical” victory.
The PSG team will celebrate a parade of victory in the fields-Elysées on Sunday when tens of thousands of followers are expected to meet to see their heroes who return.
