Islamabad:
A warm and dry climate prevailed in most of the country on Friday, particularly very hot in the plains of Punjab and Sindh, where temperatures were between 40 and 50 ° Celsius.
The country has been in control of a scorching heat wave since last week. However, the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) predicted a change in the climate pattern for the next few days that could reduce the heat wave.
According to the PMD, the highest temperature on Friday was recorded in Jacobabad in Sindh at 50.5 ° Celsius and in Sibbi in Baluchistan at 47 ° C. The cities in Punjab reported temperature exceeding 40 ° C. The humidity level was also very low.
In Karachi, however, the temperature increased to 39.1 ° C with up to 70% moisture. The metropolis is currently under the influence of the cyclonic circulation of the Indian state of Gujarat. In other parts of Sindh, the weather remained hot and dry.
The PMD said that a new west winds would probably enter the upper parts of Pakistan since Friday, bringing rain accompanied by racing winds and thunderstorms, which would continue intermittently until June 16.
Rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Atock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali and Sargodha. The prognosis extends even more to the center of Punjab, where cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh can experience scattered rains in the next few days.
At the Sindh height, all districts are expected to receive precipitations related to thunderstorms, which provides very necessary relief of extreme temperatures that have reached the region, said the PMD, advising citizens to take the necessary precautions in areas prone to urban floods or strong winds.
