The French developer AI Mistral AI has taken his AI Chatbot, called Le Chat, to mobile devices. Le Chat is a European alternative to US offers. Uu. Such as Chatgpt and Google Gemini and China -based tools such as Deepseek.
Although Mistral has established a presence among AI developers, this is his first real attempt of a consumer -oriented chatbot. Naturally, I wanted to try it and see how well it worked. Although the skills of these AI attendees overlap, it is still worth seeing if the chat could keep up.
However, I didn’t want to try the chat in isolation. I decided to put it in front of Chatgpt, the current breach for many people when it comes to chatbots of AI. I thought that if the chat could be kept in direct comparison, it was worth paying attention.
I tried both chatbots with indications that the average person could undergo an AI chatbot to help them. I wrote indications to request both AI chatbots to obtain advice to improve someone’s social life, solve a riddle, explain complex problems to rookies and produce an image. This is what happened.
Friendly help
I started with a warning that someone could ask an AI when he was in a new place and trying to discover his social life. I asked both chatbots of ia the following: “I just moved to a new city and I don’t know anyone. What are some practical ways of making new friends as an adult?
Both chatbots had some solid tips. Le Chat’s response included ten ideas with accompanying explanations, and were solid but lacked many details. Chatgpt was much more specific when creating applications and other details to continue friends. Le Chat could do the same with some follow -ups, but at least initially, he maintained a set of more generic tips. That could be its international flavor, since some of the chatgpt advice would only make sense in the US. Due to the availability of some mobile applications and activities.
Riddle
I always like to use the word game and logical questions to try AI chatbots. I went for an old classic here, challenging the Ais to answer: “I speak without a mouth and listen without ears. I have no body, but I charge with wind. What am I?
Le Chat and Chatgpt hastened to give the correct answer, although Chatgpt, for some reason, had an enthusiastic exclamation point. Chatbots’s explanations were also practically identical, suggesting that the choice between Chatgpt and Le Chat really doesn’t matter in this case.
Make sense of mortgages
To prove how good the chatbots of AI could explain something complex, I went with: “Can you explain how a mortgage works in simple terms for someone who had never had a house before?”
As can be seen before, both chatbots had no problem breaking down the definitions and functions of different aspects of a mortgage. In any case, they seemed to be extracted from similar sources. I noticed that the European origin of Le Chat did not prevent US dollars from using an example.
Otherwise, the only significant difference was that Le Chat’s tone was a bit more formal than Chatgpt, which offered a more conversational phrase by describing how mortgages work.
Imagine this
Le chat has multimodal capabilities, including a model to create images. To conclude the test, I devised a somewhat complex indicator for an image to see how the two models would compare in a visually creative task. I asked each chatbot: “Create a vibrant and high fantasy illustration of a intrepid medieval gentleman who fights against a emerald green dragon colossal on the top shield.
Both images look great despite the notable differences in the details. Cinematographic lighting and style are shared, but otherwise, mountains, gentlemen and dragons are very different. Le Chat’s dragon is more a giant snake, although the gentleman’s sword has bright runes, which lacks the chatgpt image.
That said, if you look closely, you will see that both images have classic failures of AI. Chatgpt dragon wings do not seem to connect to your body, and the only visible leg is strangely placed. Le Chat’s knight has a shield that simply floats by his side, and dragon coils are organized more as a painting of Escher than like a terrifying mythical beast. And the less it is said about the shape of the tombstones carved in rune in the image of Chatgpt, the better.
CAT DE VIVO LE
As expected, there is no clear “winner” between the two chatbots, but two solid assistants. Le chat surprised me with how fast and efficient it is, but at least from my tests, it is a bit abrupt and somewhat wide in their answers. That is not bad if you want generalized answers and advice in a hurry.
Chatgpt’s responses sometimes seemed more what a human would say in response to the indications, with a dyed language of emotions that seemed to coincide with the energy of the applications, although it only seemed excited about a riddle. In addition, while both chatbots of ia produced exciting, although very defective images, at least Chatgpt understood that the dragon who fought against a medieval knight usually has wings, even if they are not explicitly mentioned in the notice.
If they asked me to choose only one, I would probably lean towards the chatgpt, but that can have both familiarity and anything else. If I live in Europe, I could opt for the chat simply because it is more likely to avoid the regulatory traps that OpenAi faces because it is based on the region.
Otherwise, both chatbots of AI can handle anything that a casual chatbot user can throw their way. That should probably worry about Openai, since it strives to maintain a position of superiority, or at least the perception of such, against rivals as a mistern that the wind can have behind them.
