- Meta has two new smart glasses on the way
- The Blayzer and Scriber Optics shapes are designed for people who wear prescription lenses.
- The glasses are not cheap.
Meta just introduced a duo of new AI eyewear styles in its Ray-Ban Smart Spec line, and they’re designed for people who have prescriptions with designs intended for “everyday wear.”
These new shapes from Blayzer and Scriber Optics support “almost all prescriptions” at launch (-6 to +6, with support for people with astigmatism too) and, according to Meta, are the company’s most comfortable AI glasses yet, with over-extension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and optician-adjustable temple tips that will let you get a more personalized fit of your smart specs.
I already think the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses I have are comfortable, but I have a couple of adjustments I would make if I could: Interchangeable nose pads, for example, would be a big help in making my glasses fit better. The only downside is that these new glasses are a little more expensive than Meta’s standard Ray-Ban smart glasses.

The glasses are available right now in the US starting at $499, while in the UK and Australia they launch on April 14 for £429 / AU$709. Oh, and that’s before paying more for their prescription lenses (which cost different amounts depending on how strong your corrective lenses should be) and for add-ons like transition lenses that darken in bright light.
Going through all the more expensive options, I found a pair that was $1,024 on the US pre-order page, although it looked like you could get a pair in the $599 to $799 range if you don’t go all out and have less severe vision correction needs.
But hey, at least you get an exclusive dark brown charging case, a change from the limited edition tan and black cases we’ve seen previously.
If you’d rather splurge on other glasses from Meta, there are some new lens and frame options on the way.
The Oakley Meta Vanguards are receiving their first transition lenses, which is a big win for the glasses as their always-shaded options weren’t ideal for darker days. They are also joined by black and rose gold lenses.
Meanwhile, the Oakley HSTN specs have Dark Golf and clear to brown transition lens options for you to choose from.
