As 10 -year -old Apple Watch veteran, I have only realized Garmin in the last six months or so in my role in Fitness and Wearable experts of Techradar.
Since the change of the year, there has been a lot of negativity around Garmin for a variety of reasons: a global interruption that saw the devices unused for more than a day, the users annoyed by the major and premium models that remain at the software cold, and more recently the controversial Garmin Connect+subscription service.
I have seen a lot of despair in the Garmin forums such as R/Garmin Subreddit, reading countless publications and comments about users who are considering getting rid of their Garmins or making the change to Apple, Samsung and company.
But as a regular Apple Watch user, I am here to lend a comforting hand to the faithful of Garmin. Life may not be perfect at this time, but there are still a lot of reasons to be grateful for its Garmin and a lot of impressive characteristics and benefits to use one.
It made me think of how many advantages and advantages there is to use a Garmin, so I thought about collecting some of them here to bring to Garmin users a very necessary joy.
Who knows, if you are looking for a new smart watch, perhaps this is the impulse you need to get one of the best Garmins instead of an Apple Watch Ultra 2. Of course, the characteristics and benefits are balanced in both directions, but allow me to present some of the things Garmin does better than the Apple Watch at this time.
1. Battery duration
The best Apple Watch will give you a maximum of 72 hours of battery in a single load in low power mode. When you arrive in Garmin, the battery life specifications are measured in days instead of hours. Of course, there are reasons for this, Apple watches tend to have more bright screens and, in general, are a little more under the hood, but it cannot be denied that even formidable and powerful models such as Garmin Fenix 8 offer a crazy longevity. The latter is classified by up to 34 days of typical use, a surprising figure.
Libra by Libra, any equivalent garmin will crush the duration of Apple Watch by an order of magnitude, and that is even before we consider the secret weapon and point number 2 of Garmin …
2. Solar load
Complement battery life is the solar load, an option offered in many Garmin models. In exchange for a less impressive screen, it obtains the solar load due to the potentially unlimited battery life in the correct conditions. While that is rarely a reality, the solar load pushes the battery life of 34 days mentioned above from FENIX 8 to 58 days in Solar.
Apple has never hinted at the solar load in Apple Watch during its 10 years of existence, and I would love to see the company try it.
3. Running Metrics
If you want the best race watch to help you perfect your passage, towards your rhythm and break your marathon record, Garmin is really the only option.
Garmin has a dedicated range of clocks that run, headed by the impressive Foreunner 965, but all the alignment has a series of leading career metrics in the industry that Apple cannot hold a candle.
In its most advanced metrics and characteristics, Garmin Running include execution dynamics, vertical oscillation and relationship, contact time with the soil and balance, stride length, cadence, operating power, adjusted grade rhythm, performance condition, lactate threshold, pacepro and even a prediction of career time.
Apple Watch does some of these, but you can’t deny that Garmin leads the package when it comes to running.
4. Garmin Training and Coach Plans
While your Apple Watch can track training, Garmin has a wide range of training tools. In particular, you can use Garmin Coach’s training plans to feed your career or cycling regime, and you can also use the Garmin Connect application to create step -by -step training that you can follow directly from your wrist.
You will even get suggested training daily depending on your previous performance (to execute or cycling) and information about how long you must leave to recover based on your effort.
Apple could have new training load features of Watchos 11, but otherwise, the company has barely scratched the surface in this field.
5. Preparation and body battery
Garmin also presents very impressive preparation scores and his own body battery technology, which he will not find in any Apple Watch. Now, there is some debate about the effectiveness of this type of technology, and some people would probably tell him that it is pseudoscience.
However, Garmin takes metrics such as its variability of heart rate, activity data and more to generate a score of 100 to estimate its energy reserves and general preparation to address the training of the day.
For some people (including myself), that is not always useful, you can often become a slave to numbers and end up feeling in worse conditions of what you could really be, but for those who wish, the battery and the preparation scores of Garmin’s body are much better than anything Apple offers in space.
6. Models and prices
According to all accounts, Garmin has the richest line of models of any smart watches manufacturer, including Apple. While Cupertino has opted for a simple line of three devices, Garmin has models within the models at the top of the layers of configurations wrapped around price structures.
It’s a batch To understand, especially if you are a beginner: What is the difference between the Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED, Solar and Instinct E, for example? – But the result is that there is a garmin for all. From the cheapest Forerunner 55 to the Tactix 8 full of ballistics monitoring and nocturnal vision mode, there is a garmin in all colors and at each price.
7. Agnosticism platform
One of the best things to buy a Garmin is that it works with iPhone and Android equally well. Of course, some key notification features are lost that would obtain an Apple Watch on iPhone, but in general, buy a Garmin releases it to move more easily between iPhone and Android if you feel so inclined.
That can be tremendously liberating when it comes to choosing its next smartphone, especially because moving between the two does not mean losing all their training data and training praise.
8. A true flashlight
Bonus Round: Apple Watch has a flashlight feature, but only implies up the screen to the white brightness. Many Garmins, such as instinct 3, come with a complete flashlight to explore or simply strive to the bathroom at 3 am.
Garmin users take heart
As I said, this is not an exhaustive list in any way, but hopefully, Garmin users can take some heart because there are still many reasons to be satisfied with their purchases and continue with the brand.
