- The new roller box that meets hand luggage is available in three colors
- It is part of the Peak Design ecosystem, with a new XL camera cube made on purpose
- With a price of $ 599.95, with a crowdfunding campaign that extends from March 4 to April 17
Peak Design has presented its first case as a roller, the premium Roller Pro, with innovative characteristics and touches of family design taken from the camera accessories ecosystem.
The roller that meets hand control is available in three colors: Black, Eclipse (a burgundy tone) and Sage, and is currently in Crowdfunded from March 4 to April 17 with a backup price of $ 599.95, and is due to the Earth on the Peak Design website since the end of June.
There is also a new dedicated camera cube (XL) that is designed to maximize the internal storage of the Roller Pro for the camera team that needs additional protection, which costs $ 139.95 (the price of the United Kingdom and Australia for both items is TB).
Of course, there are no guarantees with crowdfunding campaigns, but I have already had in my hands a Sage Roller Pro prototype for weeks (and I have tried numerous maximum design products in the years, mainly camera equipment, such as the outdoor backpack, camera buckets, travel tripod and the Honda de la Camera), and I can imagine that the last product of Peak Design becomes my case rollers that advance for many years. Let’s take a look at what it offers.
An expensive roller that is a dream to drive and built to last
Peak Design sent me a prototype of the Roller Pro several weeks before his ad, and I can tell him that it is a completely different proposal from the cases of budgetary rollers made of parts ready to use.
This is a premium peak design product from beginning to end, with a wheel of four ultra soft and agile sets, in addition to a low profile handle made of solid carbon fiber parts, instead of rickety telescopic tubes. The mango is recorded in an aluminum chassis and occupies less space inside the roller box, which means more space for their things.
The exterior of the roller is a gentle type of durable and expandable sensation, with a familiar peak design and an additional superior soft handle (relieve that temptation to raise the box loaded by the extensive handle), while a hard shell structure of polycarbonate inside provides stiffness and protection for what is inside.
I love how the main compartment opens to pack and unpack. Unlike other rollers that doubled in the footprint when you open them, the Roller Pro Drawridge bridge sits vertically, ideal for when you are in tight spaces that try to access the camera team, or in an airport frantically looking for that thing you need.
With so many camera accessories in their wallet, naturally Peak Design has thought a lot about gear storage. There are dedicated and insurance compartments for elements such as a laptop, small inner zip pockets for important items such as a passport and memory cards, in addition to a wide variety of protective camera cubes, including the new XL version, which means that it can customize how to divide the storage of camera equipment / personal elements for their needs, for each trip.
They are still the first days for my Roller Pro tests, but I can see that it becomes my roller case for many years of travel and photography trips. The elephant in the room is the product list price: around $ 600 for the case is only quite steep, and that is before adding the cost of accessories for the camera equipment, such as camera cubes.
Even so, if it is as durable and versatile as my time indicates so far, the Roller Pro could be an excellent value. I will share more thoughts later through a long -term review.
