- Mini 5 Pro was rumored is the last model in the long ultra light range of DJI
- Antigravity A1 is the first 360 video drone all in one in the world
- Both drones should leave in early 2026
The fans of the camera drones like me are really pampering at this time (well, perhaps not those who live in the United States, but that is for another time). The newcomer has not only entered the market with its A1, a completely new type of drone, but that online leaks and rumors suggest that DJI is close to launching the mini 5 pro.
As someone who reviews drones to make a living, probably you would assume, of these two, would be more excited about the ancient A1. After all, this is the first 360 drone in the world, and adopts a completely different approach for the creation of videos and photos.
In addition, it was tested in a completely different way from most drones, using VR-style glasses headphones and a movement sensitive to the movement with one hand to carry the FPV -ish flight to a wide audience. (Of course, DJI already did something similar with the Avata, but that is a specialized drone: the A1 is being launched a lot in the masses).
On the other hand, the rumored DJI Mini 5 Pro is simply the last iteration in a series of small folding drones that dates back to the DJI Mavic Mini, launched in 2019.
We receive a new mini drone most of the years, and there is nothing particularly surprising in any of the supposed specifications or characteristics of the Mini 5 Pro. All of them seem exactly the type of logical progressions that would expect DJI to do in the next mini series model.
So why am I much more excited about the perspective of the arrival of the mini 5 pro than that of the A1? Surely, for a slightly tired drone reviewer, should the new brand of the brand’s brand overcome the tranquility of the reliability of another DJI launch?
The thing is, assuming that the leaks are precise, of course, the DJI Mini 5 Pro looks like the perfect drone for most people, while anxiety A1 is an unknown amount with much to prove.
Mini drone, maxi anticipation
The mini 5 pro has many things. There is the DJI hardware and software pedigree, perfected for more than a decade of producing affordable and friendly camera drones for the consumer.
If the leaks are correct, the mini 5 pro will be the first sub-250g drone to come with a 1-inch camera sensor, something that would have been considered almost impossible only a couple of years ago.
To put it in perspective, the current lighter drone to have a 1 -inch sensor is the DJI Air 2S, which weighs 595 g. It is rumored that the mini 5 pro weighs less than half of that, which places it in a category of drones that is subject to much less restrictions, especially in my country of origin of the United Kingdom.
Unless they have performed specialized training, pilots based in the United Kingdom cannot fly a drone that weighs more than 250 g above people not involved, horizontally closer to 50 m for people not involved, or closer to 150 mA residential, recreational, commercial or industrial sites. In a place as densely populated and built as the southeast of England, where I live, that discards almost everywhere that you want to fly.
Weight for it …
However, with a Sub-250g drone, the previous rules do not apply. You can fly over people (except when they are in crowds) and fly your drone in all areas mentioned above. So, for fans and occasional flyers (in other words, most drones users) only make sense to buy a 249 Go less drone.
That meant to compromise the quality and characteristics of the camera, but with the specifications described in the mini 5 pro leaks, such as the 4K 120FPS video, I do not think that a great commitment is required there. And that does not even mention the improved characteristics of the battery and safety duration, including Lidar for night navigation, mentioned in leaks.
In a nutshell, the DJI Mini 5 pro is emerging as the drone that most of the United Kingdom drones have been waiting. It is one that I know I have been waiting for a long time.
Speaking of rules and regulations, one thing about antigravity A1 that many do not realize is that their glasses -based control system requires that pilots bring a second person as an “observer”[whenvuela[Whenflying[cuandovuela[whenflying
In most countries, you must keep your drone in the visual vision line at all times, except when you wear glasses, when you should have someone else with you to keep both eyes on your drone. As someone who usually flies alone, that creates a problem for me.
I must also say that nothing I have said above means that I am less than happily I hope to try the antigravity A1. For a long time I have been a fan of what I Insta360 has achieved with its 360 degree action chambers, such as the Insta360 x5, so the possibility of flying a drone equipped with the same panoramic capture of video refrigeration and postproduction cooling capabilities is really really convenient.
As I said before, the fans of the American camera drones have much to wait at this time. But for me, the DJI Mini 5 Pro has the advantage for its pure practicality and sounds like the drone that is most likely to buy.
