I think the camera drones market is about to undergo a maritime change (word game), thanks to the next Aqua of Zero Zero Robotics. Observed on the company’s website, this little quadcopter of life life is the first really surprising steering wheel I have seen in years.
As a product reviewer, I have tried dozens of drones during the last decade more or less, and although they have improved and better in terms of flight capacity, battery life and camera performance, it is not common for a new announcement to present me something completely unforeseen.
The Aqua does that, being the first native water drone for the masses. Most drones must fly very carefully around bodies of water, since the reflective surface can sign their safety sensors and give rise to a dump in the drink. And none of the previous drones that I have checked is even built to fly on a rainy day, much less land in a lake.
Not so the Hoberair Aqua. Built to be completely waterproof, it launches and lands in the water. In fact, it seems to be specifically designed to capture aquatic sports such as kayak, standing pallets and wind surf, following its subject automatically as the previous drones of Zero Zero, the Hoververair X1 and Hoververo de Auto-Flying.
To help it in that goal, it comes with the resistance to the wind level 7 and a maximum speed of 55 kmph / 34 mph, which should give it the capabilities to maintain the rhythm of some quite rapid forms of transport transmitted by the water. The rest of the specifications and characteristics of the AQUA remain secret for now, but with the drone now officially confirmed that more details should arise soon.
Wave of the future
While Hoberair Aqua sounds like a specialized product plus niche than the Hoberair X1 or, for example, the DJI Mini 4 Pro, we still do not know how useful it could be for the land launch.
The fact that he is shaking things and taking camera drones into a new direction makes it, for me, one of the most exciting drones I’ve seen in recent years. As someone who lives on the coast, the idea of flying a drone in the water instead of keeping it at a safe distance is very attractive.
I must add that Aqua is not the only innovative drone this year, with the debut model equipped with 360 antigravity camera, it is also due to the launch. But it has rapidly risen to the top of the list of the next drones (or rumorea that are the next) drones that I am very exciting to take a trial flight.
At least, it will give me the perfect excuse to finally leave on that standing palette board that has been gathering dust in my spare room. And maybe it’s time to finally press the trigger when buying that neoprene suit?
Just when the drone market was in danger of putting a little rancid, Zero Zero Robotics has given things a bright orange shot in the arm. I will be anxiously scanning the horizon for the next round of details about the Aqua Hoberair, so be sure to consult again to get more news soon.
