- KM5 Lightwear HP1 Cost $ 189 / £ 159 (around AU $ 331)
- 1980s looks, but with Bluetooth 5.4 and active noise cancellation
- Battery duration 24 hours, but two different parts to load
Every time I feel nostalgic for the orange foam walkman headphones that I used in the 1980s, I have to remind myself that they sounded absolutely horrible. But what would happen if they returned and sound good and also had active noise cancellation? That is what the new KM5 Lightwear HP1 headphones are here to deliver.
The headphones work wirelessly and in wired mode, and enter only 103 g without cables. Unfortunately, they do not come in that orange of the 80s, but there are black and black models with interchangeable color cushions.
KM5 Lightwear HP1 Headphones: Key characteristics and prices
The thin headband is made of stainless steel and behind the cushions there are 40 mm controllers with a frequency response from 20Hz to 25 kHz.
Bluetooth is 5.4 with Bluetooth the audio, and the battery life is 24 hours promised from a three -hour load. The ANC has a transparency mode, as well as normal cancellation.
However, there are two great disadvantages here. The headphones are not connected to each other, and that means that it must be charged with two cables. And for cable listening, a USB-C cable will have more weight than thin audio cables of old school cans. I suppose that in Wired mode, the wiring headset sends audio wirelessly to the other, although KM5 has not made it clear.
They are definitely a new interesting addition to the world of the best noise cancellation headphones, a very different style to anything, from Sony or Bose. That is double since so few of the best headphones in their ear have ANC, so they provide something really strange.
HP1 headphones are now available in km5.co.jp for £ 159 / $ 189 (around AU $ 331), which makes them a fairly fair price, now we just need to see if they are good, assuming that (hopefully) are widely available.
