- The Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold returns to stores
- “Restocks sell out quickly”
- There may be life in the Trifold after all
Rumors about the death of the Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold were premature. Starting this Friday, April 10, 2026, Samsung will restock shelves in the US with limited quantities of the innovative foldable phone.
To refresh your memory, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold phone late last year. While Samsung has been in the foldable phone game for several years (see the fantastic Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7), this was the first Galaxy with two folds. Unfolded, it is only 3.9 mm thick. Folded twice, it measures 12.9 mm. The $2,899 phone is packed with tech, including a 200MP main camera, a 6.6-inch display on the outside, and a huge, flexible 10-inch display on the inside.
When I finally got my hands on it at CES 2026, I wrote: “The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is a remarkable, uncompromising feat of engineering that delivers the potential for truly portable, large-screen tablet productivity.”

After initially being available only in South Korea, sales opened in the United States (among other markets) earlier this year. Then, just as quickly, the Galaxy Z Trifold disappeared.
While numerous outlets reported on the premature end of Samsung’s ultra-premium phone experiment, I wasn’t so sure. After all, Samsung’s public statements were confusing at best.
“The Galaxy Z TriFold was introduced as a super premium device in limited quantities. In Korea, the strong consumer response led to all available units being sold out. Customers in other countries still have the opportunity to purchase the device,” a Samsung spokesperson told us at the time.
Honestly, that sounds like a story of success and not utter failure. The Z Trifold is extraordinarily expensive and, I suppose, quite difficult to manufacture, but if Samsung’s supplies ran out, that indicates demand, right?
Last month, after some digging, I was able to confirm that Samsung would be restocking in the US and other markets and could do so soon.
Less than a month later, it appears that’s what’s happening.
As Samsung announced on Wednesday (April 8), “Samsung will bring the Galaxy Z Trifold back to its shelves, the brand’s most advanced folding innovation to date.”
However, it won’t be everywhere in the United States. Stores that sell it include Los Cerritos Center, California; The Gallery in Houston, Texas; and Roosevelt Center Mall in Garden City, New York. You can sign up to receive notifications about Galaxy Z Trifold purchase opportunities on Samsung’s website.
Samsung has not adjusted the price and does not appear to be preparing for stronger demand or even necessarily to meet current demand. As noted on the site, “restocks go fast!”, and I suspect Samsung is happy to let the Galaxy Z Trifold go out of stock again.
What it looks like we have here is a cutting-edge device for those who like to live on the cutting edge of technology. Samsung doesn’t have to make more because it’s not the Galaxy phone for everyone. That’s the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, at least that’s the one I recommend to everyone. For the more budget-conscious Galaxy fans, there’s the excellent Galaxy S26 Plus, which we just reviewed.
