The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur will now carry out the Admission of Medicine and Odental College (MDCAT), replacing individual universities in an important change in the admission process to the Medical University and Dentistry.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Sindh cabinet on Thursday, which also discussed the implementation of a unified admission policy in all medical and dental universities in the province.
Last year, MDCAT’s recovery exam was successfully held in SINDH according to the directives of the Sindh Superior Court by Iba Sukkur.
A total of 38,684 candidates participated in the withdrawal examination remained simultaneously in six cities: Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshor, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana and Sukkur. The provincial and district authorities provided logistical and logistics support, together with agencies such as FIA and the Intelligence Office (IB). According to a spokesman for the principal minister of Sindh, the new policy will also apply to public and private sector institutions, and the Provincial Health Department continues to regulate admissions.
At present, the public sector offers 2,550 MBBS and 500 BDS seats, while the private sector has 1,441 MBBs and 2,025 dental seats.
Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the change follows irregularities in the previous MDCAT. He stressed that transparency and merit in the admission policy are the main priorities of the government.
