- Lenovo has revealed the solar yoga pc at the MWC 2025
- The rear cover of the laptop has a highly efficient solar panel incorporated, one that can load the battery even with little light
- They have shown a lot of other notebooks, including more yoga models and an ideapad
Lenovo has revealed a cluster of new laptops in MWC 2025, including a prototype of a yoga notebook with solar energy, along with other yoga models and a new version of a ideapad.
However, what attracts the greatest attention in the program is that the solar yoga PC that, as noted, remains a conceptual hardware piece, so this is not something that occurs for production (at least not yet).
The laptop has an integrated solar panel in the lid that uses the “backward contact cells”, explains Lenovo, to obtain a high conversion rate of solar cells. The company claims a 24% conversion rate of solar energy absorbed by the panel, which is located towards the upper end of the efficiency scale in the solar industry at this time (at least in the use of the real world).
Lenovo points out that the laptop use a ‘dynamic solar’ tracking system that constantly monitors the current and “voltage of the solar panel and” works with the solar energy system first to automatically adjust the charger configuration to prioritize the sending of the energy harvested to the system. “
In other words, you get the greatest performance of the sun’s rays, and the panel is able to collect solar energy even in low light conditions, Lenovo observes. Then, when it is outside, even on a boring and murky day, the theory is that the yoga solar PC can prevent its battery charge from running out, at least while the laptop is inactive, anyway.
We only get a specific figure with respect to the type of solar energy that could be barrel here, which is that the panel can “absorb and turn enough direct sunlight in 20 minutes to feed up to an hour of video playback on the PC.”
Another more notable point with the yoga solar PC is that this is a thin and light device, despite the inclusion of that solar panel, which measures 15 mm and weighs 1.22 kg, impressive.
Lenovo is making a greater play in the front of renewable energies with the solar energy kit for yoga, another concept of concept that is basically an energy bank that has a removable USB-C solar panel. That panel can join your backpack, or tent, when it is in nature, collecting solar energy to change the bank’s battery and feed its devices.
It is still early for these concepts, of course, but we hope that one day, a laptop with solar energy, be on our list of the best laptops; I don’t see why this will not happen, it’s just a matter of time.
Laptop yoga computers in abundance and some tempting options for creatives
Also in MWC 2025, Lenovo revealed its edition Yoga Pro 9i aura that offers a 16 -inch OLED screen with a resolution of 3.2ky an OLED tandem technology that allows a high level of brightness (1600 nit) while maintaining the efficiency of energy.
It is a highly precise screen (‘Puresight Pro’) that offers an update rate of 120 Hz, and can equip the pro yoga with a GPU of up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070. The CPU is up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285h, so this can be specified as a very powerful portable computer for creative types.
There will also be an edition Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i aura that comes in a 14 -inch form factor instead of 16 inches, along with a renewed yoga model Pro 7 of 14 inches.
Lenovo had other yoga models on display, including the laptop Yoga Slim 7 of 14 inches, another laptop aimed at creators with an OLED screen of 2.8K resolution (and up to 22.5 hours of battery duration).
The Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 hybrids were also shown in flavors of 16 and 14 inches of these 360 degree convertibles. For more details about all these yoga models, see the Techradar Pro coverage here.
A daily notebook with an ecological touch
Those who seek more a daily laptop will be interested in learning about the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3x, a 15 -inch notebook that carries the motto ‘AI for anyone’.
This is a co -pilot+ PC with a Snapdragon X (BARI -based) processor associated with a 60 Whr battery for a lot of longevity away from energy outlet, and a fast -charged feature that only takes 15 minutes to give two hours of battery power. That kind of speed is always welcome when you are about to leave the house and you realize that your notebook is exhausting the battery.
Other notable attributes of Ideapad Slim 3x include a metal cover and a classified durability to a MIL-STD-810H standard, and there is the possibility of a future expansion by adding a second SSD through a free slot. It is always good to see the update options with notebooks, since this is another ecological option (indirectly) to maintain the relevant and usable device in the future.
In Europe, most of these new laptops will emerge at the end of this month, in March 2025, although the exceptions are Yoga Pro 7 that will not arrive until April, and the Yoga Pro 9i Aura edition that will not arrive until June 2025.
