Peshawar:
An intelligence office official (IB) was martyred in an objective attack by unknown assailants on the Warsak road in Peshawar on Wednesday, police said.
Inspector Shahid Anwar was shot dead, while he went to the service. His vehicle was triggered within the limits of the Machni Gate Police Station. Police said he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds while they took him to a hospital.
The initial investigation showed, according to the police, a Kalashnikov rifle was used in the shooting. This was the second murder incident in Peshawar in a month. Last month, the unidentified attackers attacked a local leader of Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam Maulana Qazi Zahoor Ahmed.
Funeral prayers for martyred inspector Shahid Anwar were offered in police lines. Peshawar police chief Qasim Ali Khan, IB, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Arshad Ali Khan Tareen, senior police officers and relatives of the martyr attended the funeral.
