The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that ICE agents will conduct checks during Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.
Tricia McLaughlin Yoho, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, told TMZ Sports: “DHS is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone involved, as we do with all major sporting events, including the World Cup.
“Our mission remains unchanged.”
Thus, ICE will have a visible presence around Levi’s Stadium before the game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, winners of their respective conferences, after Sunday’s games.

DHS adviser Corey Lewandowski said in October that enforcement is a “presidential directive” and will not be suspended during the Super Bowl.
“There is no place where safe haven can be provided to people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski said on “The Benny Show” podcast. “Not in the Super Bowl or anywhere else. We will find you and we will deport you. That is a very real situation.”
This directive from President Donald Trump comes after he recently said he would boycott the Super Bowl, while criticizing Bad Bunny and now Green Day’s choice of halftime show.

Trump attended last year’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“It’s too far away,” Trump told the New York Post. “I would, I have done it [gotten] big hands [at] the Super Bowl. They like me.
“I would go if, you know, it was a little shorter.”
Trump has openly criticized Bad Bunny since he was elected, telling Newsmax: “I don’t know who he is,” despite his huge popularity around the world.

“I don’t know why they’re doing it. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to do entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Green Day, then, was selected last week to play before kickoff at Levi’s Stadium. Both Bad Bunny and Green Day have expressed their distaste for Trump.
Bad Bunny, the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican artist born Benito Antonio MartÃnez Ocasio, came under fire from Trump and his supporters for his public comments about the president and his administration. The 31-year-old, winner of three Grammy Awards, expressed fears about ICE, so he decided to do a residency in his native Puerto Rico to avoid stops in the United States.
“But there was the issue that ICE might be outside.” [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and that worried us a lot,” he told iD.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s October 2025 pick during the Fall League’s annual meeting.

“It’s carefully thought out,” Goodell said of the decision-making process for the halftime show. “I’m not sure we’ve ever cast an artist that we haven’t had negative reactions or criticism from. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people watching you.
“[Bad Bunny] “He is one of the most important and popular artists in the world,” said the curator. “That is what we are trying to achieve. It is an important stage for us. “It’s an important element to the entertainment value.”
The Super Bowl typically requires robust logistical plans for law enforcement, where government agencies assist local authorities in maintaining a safe environment for the thousands of people converging on the host city.

“Securing the Super Bowl will involve an entire government response conducted in accordance with the United States Constitution,” McLaughlin Yoho added.
“Those who are here legally and do not break other laws have nothing to fear.”
