This week was transcendental when Microsoft turned 50. In addition to that, we finally saw the Nintendo Switch 2 throughout its glory, and Sony’s new OLED technology put us in the cane.
To catch up with all that and the other most important stories of the week, we have rounded them here. There is a quick summary of each story and is linked to reading more if it is desperate to know more.
Once you are up to date with the news, be sure to watch our selections for the 7 new films and television programs to broadcast this weekend (April 4).
7. Microsoft turned 50, and celebrated with a large co -driver update
Not many technological companies have lived enough to celebrate their golden anniversary, but the Grizzled Microsoft technology giant reached that impressive milestone this week. Instead of sitting with an old -fashioned good or embarrassing his grandchildren with a chicken dance, he announced a great update to his co -driver AI assistant.
Copilot is now transforming from a quite standard and generative chatbot into a full -fledged partner to rival Chatgpt and Google Gemini. Well, that is the theory anyway: the new co -pilot now has a memory to help “learn who is deeply”, while mobile applications can use the camera of your smartphone to help you understand what you are seeing.
All that sounds useful and spooky, but will Copilot have the power of permanence of Windows, Word or even Clippy? Time will say it: we will notify you in 2075.
6. Nintendo spilled (almost) everything on switch 2
This week, we were practical with Nintendo Switch 2, which will be launched in just a couple of months on June 5, 2025. The new console has a series of significant improvements about its predecessor. These include support for 4K resolution on television and 1080p on the hand computer. We can also expect variable update rate support, 256 GB of storage space and box velocities up to 120 fps for compatible games.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $ 429.99 / £ 395.99 / AU $ 699.95 for the console itself. A package that includes a digital copy of Mario de Mario Kart You can also buy for $ 499.99 / £ 429.99 / AU $ 769.95. Although prices could increase, at least in the United States, since Nintendo announced that it is delaying the early orders of Nintendo Switch 2 in response to recent Trump tariffs.
Many peripherals and official accessories have been announced. A camera for the new GameChat function will be sold separately and can be connected to the USB-C ports of the Switch 2. We are also obtaining a pro controller 2 and a wireless Nintendo Gamecube controller that will be compatible with Nintendo Switch online + Expansion Pack the next Switch 2 Gamecube Games Library.
5. Nintendo exhibited Switch 2 software alignment too
Together with the revelation of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, we also obtained a preview of all the software that reaches the new console at the end of this year.
The holder was obviously the launch title of the first part of the first part of the Switch 2: Mario de Mario Kart. This interpretation of the open world of the Karting title is larger and better in every way based on our preview, with some new lovely courses and an expansive map to run.
Other successes of the showcase include Kong Bananza donkeyNew (although brief) Silksong Details, a look at The anhuskbloods – An exclusive Title of Fromsoftware for Switch 2, and the arrival of Gamecube Classics through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.
The only drawback is that the games are becoming more expensive with Mario de Mario Kart From $ 79.99 / £ 75.99. Not to mention that Nintendo is charging for Welcome Tour – An interactive instruction manual that has designed for Switch 2.
4. Chatgpt had a week of roller coaster
It has been an infernal week for Openai. Things began last week by launching the generation of native images within Chatgpt. Previously it has been based on Dall-E for images, but now I could do it in itself and do better. People quickly realized that it was great to imitate the style of the Powerhouse of Anime Ghibli and a fashion for the images of people in the style of Studio Ghibli arrived on the Internet, which turned out that Openai servers are placed when 1 million new users were recorded in just one hour. Chatgpt fell at least three times this week.
Fusion servers were not the only problem of OpenAi, with many people questioning the legality of producing art in the copyright of Studio Gibli. Should an AI reproduce the founder of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, the thorough approach to frame for animation with such a faithful mimetry?
It is also strongly rumored that deep reasoning, the very popular agent investigation capacity found in Chatgpt Pro and Chatgpt Plus will reach the free level of ChatgPT very shortly after a member of OpenAi’s technical staff revealed the information in an online discussion. Hopefully servers can handle it if this happens.
3. Cinemacon 2025 gave us previous views of abundance films
Cinemacon 2025 gave us four days of exhibition presentations of the most important names in Hollywood, including Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, Focus Feature, Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon Mgm Studios and Sony photographs.
There is much of what we could talk about, but some outstanding aspects include the Spider-Man: New day Title and revelation date, the John Wick 5 Announcement, four The Beatles The films will come in 2026, and we obtained the first footage of Evil part two, avatar: Fire & Ash, and Tron: Ares.
2. We saw Sony’s new top-end tv in action
Sony presented the new TVs that has arrived in 2025, and probably the most juicy is the Sony Bravia 8 II, a follow -up of the OLED of Sony Bravia 8 of the Middle Rank and The Sony A95L QD-OED of high-end.
Sony did not reveal prices, but said it will be cheaper than the A95L, despite being a QD-Osed TV, using the latest generation panel (the same in the Samsung S95F). With the new generation panel it will be brighter than any previous Sony Oled, and should have richer colors. It will also be the only way to obtain the highest range Old screen with a brilliant finish, instead of the 2.0 finish without mate used by Samsung.
If Bravia 8 II can reach the same type of prices as the LG G5 and Samsung S95F, instead of being significantly more expensive, as the A95L did, then we could be in something very special of Sony.
1. The new Garmin subscription caused chaos
Garmin has presented a new and extremely Impopular subscription platform, Garmin Connect+. The company says that its free experience will not go anywhere, but that has not arrested furious users in its thousands who protest the new subscription of $ 7.
For the monthly rate, Garmin is promising for users six characteristics of payment walls, including active intelligence, an agent who works with AI who theoretically gives him more personalized information about his training and performance.
In general, brand fans are upset by the measure because Garmins are often very expensive, which makes the additional cost of a subscription more difficult to support. There is also a lot of speech about the fact that the subscription itself is very thin and does not seem to offer a lot of value to users given the cost.
In any way that cuts it, the launch of Garmin Connect+ has been a disaster for the company, and with the users who already tenseed in a significant interruption and premium devices that remain in the cold when it comes to software, the launch could not have been timed.
