- A new rumor suggests that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will wear a main camera with a 1 inch sensor and a 200MP teleobjective
- On paper, these specifications exceed Samsung, Apple and Google competition
- It is expected that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be launched in global markets in early March
Xiaomi’s next high -end flagship phone could rival the best camera phones, with a variety of four high -resolution cameras, if a new rumor turns out to be true.
According to the remarkable Yoguesh Berrant of the Tipster in X (previously Twitter), the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will come equipped with a 50MP main camera that uses the Sony Lyt-900-inch sensor.
As a reference, the main camera found on the iPhone 16 Pro uses a 1/1.14-inch sensor, which is approximately 13% smaller than the LYT-900. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Google Pixel 9 Pro have an even smaller sensor than 1/1.3 inches.
In the chamber language, the sensor is the surface on which the light focuses on the lens. A larger sensor means that more light can be captured, allowing a better low light performance, an improved dynamic range and less noise (or hardness).
Brrar adds that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra also has an ultra 50mp Ultra camera, a 50MP teleobjective camera with 3X optical zoom and a 200MP teleobjective camera with 4.3x optical zoom.
On paper, that is an extremely impressive variety of cameras, and I can already imagine that a combination of high -resolution cameras in multiple zoom would offer users a great versatility and flexibility for photography.
The 200MP Periscope camera jumps as an exciting addition to the highest specification phone in Xiaomi: the equivalent camera in the current Xiaomi 14 of current generation is a 50MP camera that offers a 5X optical zoom.
A great sensor to accompany all those megapixels
While the resolution alone is not a reliable quality indicator, BRAR points out that this 200MP Zoom Chamber uses the Samsung HP9 sensor of 1/1.14 inches, that is the same size as the main camera on the iPhone 16 Pro E even bigger than the main sensor found in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Google Pixel 9 Pro.
In theory, that combination of a large and high resolution sensor must offer optical images with zoom that are bright, colorful and rich in details.
Our Xiaomi 14 Ultra review discovered that the phone has “the best cameras of any phone, never”, and with improvements such as these rumors that are on their way, it seems that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could continue with this winning streak.
As Phonerena points out, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be revealed in China on February 26, with an official revelation at some point during the MWC, which covers from March 4 to March 6.
The only problem is the availability: Xiaomi is not sold in the US. That said, I am sure that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will easily obtain a place on our list of the best Xiaomi phones.
