- There is a new update for the PHILIPS egg application that adds support for QR codes
- The scan codes in the lights allows you to add them to the rooms in the application more easily
- You can also use QR codes to add switches, cameras and other devices
Hue Philips’s bulbs and lamps are some of the best smart lights, and are already quite easy to configure; But a new update of the application has made things even easier, allowing you to add several lights to one room at the same time.
Once you have installed the 5.38 application version, which is now available for Android and iOS, you can simply scan the QR codes on several hue devices to add them to the application together, instead of doing so at the same time.
That should be useful if you have waste a new set of smart bulbs in the sale of Amazon Spring, and reduce headaches if you move home and need to configure everything again.
The editor of Hueblog.com has already experienced adding an attenuation switch to its configuration (no doubt extensive) and informs that it works perfectly.
If the device you want to add does not have a QR code, you can avoid the new option by playing the ‘No Code QR’ button, and the application will be found in the old form, then it will allow you to assign it to a room.

This is a useful addition to the Philips Hue application, but we are still waiting for the main software update that will add the generative assistant of AI which means (the company behind Philips Hue) promised in January.
According to Signify, the wizard can create “personalized lighting scenes based on mood, occasion or style”, and will allow you to use a natural language to describe what you want instead of using a photo as a starting point or choosing tones of a colored wheel.
The company has not announced when the new tool will arrive, but it should be available before the end of the year, hopefully in time to allow it to describe its perfect festive lighting and that all its accessories adapt automatically. I’m dreaming of a brilliant Christmas.
