The War of Words between Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori and Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab continues, since the latter made a statement that the problems faced by the city cannot be solved simply through gestures such as ‘Ifar and Sehri’, but only through consistent and practical work.
In statements to the media, Wahab, belonging to the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), emphasized the importance of taking concrete measures instead of participating in propaganda.
Wahab said the PPP is committed to addressing public problems, regardless of political affiliation.
He also took a moment to offer prayers for protection of those he referred to as “adversaries” and expressed hope that the sacred month of Ramadan brings blessings to the city and its people.
I defend the PPP approach further, Wahab praised the governor of Sindh, describing him as a close friend and a benefactor of the city.
He revealed that, due to the governor’s suggestion, he had recently written a letter to the federal government requesting funds to support development efforts in Karachi.
In particular, Wahab reiterated his request for the release of RS100 billion, a sum that said he has been looking for during the last eight days.
He asked federal government officials, including Governor Kamran Tessori, to ensure that these funds are available, reiterating that, if received, it would guarantee a complete responsibility and transparency in their use.
Wahab concluded pointing out that while it is easy to make promises and discuss issues, real work is much more challenging.
He highlighted one of the critical needs of the city, the construction of a northern bypass, which argued that it is essential to solve the congestion of Karachi’s traffic.
The Governor of Sindh responds to the mayor of Karachi
Previously, the governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, had responded to the statement made by the mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, stating that his approach during the Ramadan is completely to serve the public, particularly during the times of Sehri and Ifar.
In his comments, Tessori emphasized that his dedication to community service during the sacred month of Ramadan leaves him without time for anything else, particularly until after Sehri.
The governor of Sindh shared that he had the privilege of organizing Iphtar for the general consuls of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, Turkiye, Malaysia, Russia and Bangladesh, and also had the honor of offering Iphtar to 10,000 people in the governor’s house.
He said that while serving the public, he also gains spiritual merit, highlighting that he provides daily gifts such as residential plots, Umrah tickets, motorcycles and telephones, in addition to distributing Sehri to several places.
Tessori also responded to critics, advising them to concentrate on making improvements instead of making jealousy about the love and support he has received from people.
He pointed out that this Ramadan had demonstrated his commitment to all citizens, with people from all origins, either Muhajirs, Sindhis, Punjabis, Baloch or Pashunns, consider him a brother and a son.
He concluded encouraging others to gain hearts through the service, emphasizing that this is the true measure of success, instead of being envious of popular support.
