IgA Swiatek captured his first open title of Cincinnati on Monday by beating Jasmine Paolini 7-5 6-4, with the third seed of the pole sending a powerful message ahead of the US Open.

The six -time Grand Slam winner did not drop a set on his way to the title and was a clinic in the final, turning the six rest points to ensure his eleventh WTA 1000 crown and the first from the Italian open last year.

Now she is the second winner of all time in the history of the WTA 1000 format, just following Serena Williams (23).

“I want to thank my team. I don’t know why I won tournaments that were like the last in terms of where I thought I would be playing well,” Swiatek said.

“Thank you for forcing myself to become a better player and learn to play on these faster surfaces. I am surprised and super happy.”

Paolini made the brightest beginning, climbing to a 3-0 advantage and pushing Swiatek on the edge of a double break. However, the post responded with a five -game race and, after wasting his first opportunity to meet the opening set, closed it in his second attempt.

Swiatek brought his impulse to the second set, saving two rest points in 4-3 before standing firm to move within a game of the title. She sealed the victory in the first chance with a great service, extending her perfect record against Italian to 6-0.

The victory guarantees that the Wimbledon Swiatek champion returns to number two in the world, ensuring the second seed for the last important of the year in Flushing Meadows, where the action of single begins on Sunday.

Swiatek is also ready to join Casper Ruud de Norway in the new mixed doubles event of US Open.

Early in the day, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain claimed the male title after Jannik Sinner retired in the first set.
