ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and lawyer Latif Khosa to travel abroad, despite his name appearing on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard Khosa’s petition challenging the inclusion of his name in the ECL.
During the proceedings, the prosecutor informed the court that Khosa’s name had been added to the ECL due to a pending case against him.
The court asked why Khosa’s name was included in the ECL and questioned whether there were any concerns that he might flee the country and not return.
In his defence, Khosa informed the court that he has a flight scheduled to Canada on Friday.
The court ordered him to file an affidavit before the trial court, guaranteeing his commitment to appear in court whenever he is summoned.
The IHC later allowed him to travel abroad.
A case related to holding a protest in front of the Supreme Court was registered at the Police Secretariat police station against Latif Khosa.
