IHC asks the extradition of ISIS commander

Islamabad:

The Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has expressed its disgust for the Federal Government’s request to get rid of a petition that seeks the repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, asking how Pakistan is giving the alleged terrorists to the United States in the absence of any extradition treaty.

When Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, from the IHC, resumed Friday to listen to the request on the repatriation of Dr. Aafia, the federal government submitted a diverse request requesting the immediate provision of the case.

During the hearing, the extradition of Isis Sharifullah commander was also mentioned, who was captured by Pakistan and delivered to the United States recently.

When addressing the additional attorney general, Judge Khan said that the Government states that there is no prison exchange agreement with the United States, but Pakistan delivered a detainee without any agreement.

“He was even given the opportunity to inform the Court in the Chamber about the possibility of the extradition of Dr. Shakil Aphridi to the United States [in return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui but that briefing never took place]”, said.

The court observed that two statements had been filed and that the government’s response was considered unsatisfactory. Now, the government is trying to get rid of Dr. Aafia’s request.

“In simple terms, he is saying that he wishes to get rid of this case. The prime minister wrote a letter to the president of the United States as necessary, a visa was issued, and what has been done has been done. Such approach will make everyone aware of Pakistan’s position and efforts,” he said.

The judge said that during the previous hearing, the attorney general of the Pakistan office had been ordered to provide recommendations to the government and inform the court, but now the government was asking the case to be closed.

Later, the court issued a notice about the diverse application and postponed the hearing until Friday.
