IHC gives bail to the accused blasphemy

Islamabad:

The Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has granted bond to a person arrested in a case of blasphemy in 2023, in view of the breach of the National Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to conclude the investigation despite the approval of two years.

An IHC Bank composed of Judge Babar Sattar listened to AsiLlah’s bail application, submitted through his lawyer Asif Ali Tamboli. The lawyer argued that the defendant had been in custody since October 30, 2023, but the investigation remained incomplete.

Judge Sattar asked why the investigation had not been completed despite two years of detention.

NCCIA officials told the court that assimullah had been added to a WhatsApp group from which objectable content was shared, and based on tracking the SIM, it was arrested in 2023. On the court investigation into the property of the SIM, the NCCIA officials admitted that they could not determine in whom the SIM was recorded.
