IHC govern on the challenged blasphemy probe

Islamabad:

An Intra-Court appeal has been submitted in the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) against an ordering formation of a single bench of a commission to investigate the accusations of blasphemy.

The appeal was presented by Rao Abdul Rahim against the decision of Judge Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan.

The petitioner urged the court to declare the decision of a single zero and null bank, and to dismiss the original request as inadmissible.

According to the appeal, the single bank exercised the powers of Suo Motu and issued instructions without listening to the version of the respondents. In addition, he argued that the original petitioners had multiple legal forums available for them, including the courts of first instance, but decided not to approach them.

The petitioner said that forming a commission to investigate criminal accusations contradicts the legal procedures and precedents established by the higher courts.

It is worth noting that Judge Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan had previously ordered the federal government to establish a commission within a month to investigate the matter.
