Islamabad:
Judge INAAM AMEEN MINHAS of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has issued a notice to the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) and requested an answer about a miscellaneous request filed by the PTI-PARLEMENTANS Assembly regarding the assignment of seats reserved in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
During the hearing, the lawyer of the petitioner Sultan Muhammad Khan argued that on July 2, the ECP issued a notification that missed the seats reserved for women. He asked the court to grant PTI parliamentarians their legitimate part of the seats reserved in the KP.
Judge Minhas asked if the notification of 2024 had been suspended by the court. The lawyer Sultan Muhammad Khan replied that he had not been suspended, but the case is pending.
He asked the court to suspend the notification. Judge Minhas, however, commented that the notification of 2024 could not be suspended immediately.
“I will issue a notice and let them come and explain; we will review it then,” he said. Later, the court postponed the hearing for an indefinite period. The central secretary of PTI, Malik Habib Noor parliamentarians was also present in the courtroom.
The ruling parties obtained another victory on the legal front on June 28 as a Constitutional Bank (CB) of the Supreme Court annulled the Judgment of July 12, 2024 of SC, which had risen to the PTI as a parliamentary part and allowed him to obtain seats reserved in legislatures.
