Islamabad:

Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has highlighted the issue of monetary corruption in several institutions, including the Judiciary, noting that he knows exactly which of the “judges” are corrupt.

“I know exactly how money is collected in the institutions. The attached commissioner doesn’t know who is corrupt?

“Even the courts are part of this corrupt system. Be good which of our judges are involved. If they had the authority, they would legalize the bribe,” said the senior judge of Puisne of the IHC when listening to a case related to the recruitment of Patwaris, land registration officers.

During the hearing, Judge Kayani expressed a strong disgust for the district administration for the breach of the order of the court regarding Patwaris recruitment in vacancies in the Federal Capital.

A report containing details of alleged corruption and bribery in Patwar’s offices appeared to the court. Judge Kayani commented that he had seen the report and lamented the current state of things.

The report says that Patwaris had appointed personal employees and participated in taking bribes and participating in corruption. The state lawyer assured the court that all problems would be resolved.

The judge declared that the court had issued an order regarding the determination of prices in a case of land transaction, but has not been implemented. He asked why the Chief Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad are not enforcing the order of the court.

“The attached commissioner is part of this system, and I am fully aware of what is happening all day. I can call both the chief commissioner and the attached commissioner to court them and teach them the law in two minutes.”

The judge warned that if his order was not implemented by the next hearing, the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Commissioner would appear before the court.

“I am refraining from issuing a strict order today based on his guarantee,” Judge Kayani told the state lawyer. Then, the court directed the implementation of his order and postponed the hearing until Monday.
