The Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has ordered the authorities presented today by former Prime Minister Imran Khan through the video link at 2 pm. If the video link option is not used, the court has instructed that Khan will be presented in person at 3 pm.
Previously, Judge Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan issued orders so that Adiala’s superintendent met with Imran Khan and brought him to court. The Court had previously convened to the Superintendent of the Adiala prison at 12 PM in relation to the case that involved the PTI leader, Mashal Yousafzai, who was denied a meeting with Imran Khan. The court asked the prison authorities to confirm whether Mashal Yousafzai was acting as a lawyer for the founder of PTI.
The court emphasized that the fact of not adhering to the previous order, which was agreed during the last hearing, would result in a strict action.
Judge Khan said that the Court hoped that the prison authorities would comply with the order and commented that the prison authorities seemed to have committed the court contempt.
A list was presented to the court, supposedly of Imran Khan, but the court expressed his dissatisfaction and said he can directly question the founder of PTI. The court then postponed the hearing until 12 pm
After the break, the hearing resumed and the court issued a final order for Imran Khan to appear through a video link at 2 pm. If the video link was not organized, the court ordered that Khan presented in person at 3 pm.
The Inspector General of Islamabad was instructed to guarantee the appropriate arrangements for the presentation of the founder of PTI in the Court.
During the hearing, lawyer Shoaib Shaheen informed the Court that political leaders had not been able to meet during the last five months.
The court also asked about the reasons behind the delay in organizing the meeting between Mashal Yousafzai and Imran Khan. The prison superintendent, Abdul Ghafur Anjum, explained that he had been outside the city, but the court questioned why the meeting had not organized last Friday.
Anjum also declared that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had communicated that Mashal Yousafzai was not his lawyer or focal person.
The court has ordered the prison authorities to guarantee the presentation of Imran Khan according to orders, either through a video link or in person, and emphasized that any breach will lead to legal consequences.
