The Superior Court of Islamabad ordered the authorities to address the complaints of street vendors after they presented a request against the elimination of their positions.

Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the case, with the defenders Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha representing the sellers.

The petitioners alleged that the suppliers who operated with valid licenses were being eliminated by the force of their locations by the authorities.

During the hearing, the Court criticized the lack of coordination between the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (DCL), the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Traffic Police.

“This is not a legal problem but a matter of coordination,” Judge Khan said.

The court questioned why small -scale suppliers, who earn scarce income, had to approach the court for their rights.

He expressed concern about the delay in the issuance of licenses, with pending applications for two years.

The lawyer Imaan Mazari presented video evidence that showed street vendors that are eliminated despite having permits.

She claimed that the authorities demanded bribes and attacked those who refused to pay.

The assistant commissioner told the Court that only measures were taken against sellers without a license.

However, the court observed that the authorities had not acted in the applications of the suppliers for two years.

The Court instructed CDA, MCI and the Traffic Police to coordinate and solve the problem.

He addressed the authorities to present a resolution plan at the next hearing, scheduled for a week later.
