We’re at CES 2026, where IKEA just launched a fun donut-shaped smart lamp with soft, subtly changing colors. The lamp (which can be mounted on a wall or used on a table) is a new addition to the Varmblixt series, which was first launched in 2022 and is a collaboration with Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis.

The original 2022 range included tableware, pendant lights, an illuminated mirror and the classic Varmblixt LED lamp, which had bright orange glass to reflect the room’s ambient light while also casting a warm glow.

IKEA has now revamped the LED lamp for 2026 with matte white glass and color-changing lights. The lamp comes with a Bilresa remote control that allows you to switch between 12 preset colors, from pink and lavender to soft yellow. Each shade was chosen by Sabine Marcelis and blends smoothly with the next.

Alternatively, you can skip the remote and connect the lamp to IKEA’s Dirigea Wi-Fi hub, which will allow you to control the lamp via the company’s mobile app or any other Matter-compatible smart home system. Operating the lamp in this way allows you to choose from a broader palette of over 40 colors.

If you like the shape of the lamp but aren’t interested in smart home technology, don’t worry: the original orange version without smart controls will still be available for purchase.

IKEA is also launching a smart version of the Varmblixt tubular LED pendant lamp, with dimmable white light. Like the LED lamp, it can be controlled using the remote control included in the box or connected to the Dirigea hub and integrated into a larger smart home system.
