- IKEA announces a new and colorful range of home electronic products
- The range will be in collaboration with the colorist Teklan
- Now there are two new colors of its VAPPEBY Bluetooth portable speaker
Ikea is no stranger to domestic technology, making smart lights, intelligent sensors and speakers of image frames, and more. Unfortunately, not many of them are covered with the bold colors for which the home giant is famous, but Ikea has just promised to fix it with a new series that states that “the electronics of the house will reinvent” the electronics.
The new gadgets of the house are being designed in collaboration with Tekla Evelina Severin, a designer and colorist known as Teklan on Instagram, and apparently combine color, patterns and geometric shapes to help technology to keep her account when she is surrounded by her bold and complementary home decoration. .
Until now, so vague, but Ikea has given us a teaser of what to expect to update its VAPPEBY Portable Bluetooth speaker (and surprisingly good surprisingly good) ($ 15 / £ 12 / au $ 22) with two new colors. When the speaker was launched last year, it was available in black, red or yellow finishes, but Teklan’s collaboration has delivered some blue and roses that are now available.
The news a little less good is that Teklan’s full range is not expected to launch until “early 2026” with more details than to continue closer to that moment. Come on, Ikean: At least we expected to obtain new sockfills for this Christmas. Even so, VAPPEby speaker gives us some confidence that the new range could be worth waiting …
Cheap, cheerful … And really good?
If the renovated Ikea Speaker Speaker is a sample of what will come from his new Teklan collaboration, then that is a good sign, especially if that formula applies to some really new and affordable products.
VAPPEby’s price could create an understandable caution, but Techradar audio editor, Becky Scarott, tested the vappeby last year, and its surprising conclusion was that it is “excellent” and a “Bluetooth Bluetooth speaker for money for money.”
While the new blue and pink variants of the speaker look promising, it is difficult to conclude that yellow (above) is not the best for bath melodies. Even so, blue or pink could better adapt to its decoration, and any VAPPEby version that goes, it is difficult to overcome it in Bang-for-Buck.
Our tests found that it was “totally worthy of their IP67 claim” for waterproofing, which means that it can immerse yourself in water up to one meter and still survive for 30 minutes. And our review concluded that “there is very little bad with the vappeby soundly” whenever “wait” for an excitable performance that sounds forward instead of a relaxed or refined listening. “That is why he made our list of the best cheap Bluetooth speakers last year.
It would be great to see Ikea repeat the vappeby formula with another technology: I am thinking of portable heaters, desktop speakers, microphones, maybe even a really desirable router.
