Deerfield Public Schools District 109 has responded to a federal investigation of the title IX that was launched on the accusations of administrators that force the girls of the intermediate school to change in the same costume as a transgender student.
The district provided a statement to Pak Gazette Digital, insisting that its actions were rooted in Illinois state law.
“District 109 of Deerfield’s public schools complies with state law. Illinois Human Rights Law prohibits all public school districts from discriminating on the basis of sex, including gender identity, and mandates that students must have access to the costumes and the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity,” the statement was read.

“We are sensitive to the privacy needs of all our high school students and we ensure that no student is required to change in a gym uniform for the physical education class against others. When both intermediate schools were renewed in 2017, we add five private change stations within each costumes that are available for all students. All students also have multiple options to change in a private location separated from the costume if they want it.”
The district also says that it will work with local families to determine the next steps.
“The district and the Board are united with our leaders and educators on this subject and have a shared commitment to maintain the law,” the statement continued.
“The District and the Board ask all those who express concerns or perspectives on this subject with our staff and educators to do so in a respectful and civil way. We are happy to work with families to address individual concerns and determine the next appropriate steps to support the well -being and participation of your child.”
