- Supergirl: Tomorrow’s It has been given a much cleaner and more short title
- The co -chair of DC Studios, James Gunn, has confirmed the name change
- The superhero film will be released in cinemas around the world in June 2026
Supergirl: Tomorrow’s It is no longer the official name of the next DC comics movie, James Gunn has revealed.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the co -chairing of DC Studios confirmed that the film starring Milly Alcock will now go for a much shorter title: Supergirlist.
The surprise announcement came just at the beginning of the Rolling Stone profile piece in Gunn, which was made as part of the promotional campaign for the next writer/director Superman movie. Asked about the interviewer if he could clarify what Tomorrow’s woman Reference is made as these days, Gunn paused before saying: “I think it’s only called Supergirl “.
Easing the change of title, Gunn used the next departure from Superman’s big screen, which was originally called Superman: LegacyTo explain why Supergirl: Tomorrow’sThe name had been shortened.
“I’m always cutting [down project titles]”Gunn replied.”Legacy It was really, we [DC Studios] Do something called Premortem. A premorem is that you meet your group that is doing the project. They are usually approximately a couple of months before shooting … [and] One of the things I mentioned was, [Gunn’s Superman movie] was [originally] called Superman: Legacy.
“Although I was me who gave him that title, he was simply sure,” Gunn continued. “First of all, I am fed up with the title of superheroes, colon, another name. In addition, it seemed to be looking back when we are looking forward, even though it has to do with the legacy in the movie itself. And they all said, ‘Oh, yes, no, change it'”.
Tomorrow’s wife, but a title for today
It could pain a pain to some fans of DC comics. Supergirl: Tomorrow’sThe new and truncated entitled. After all, the next DC Universe (DCU) film is basically adapting its homonym of eight problems, created by comic writer Tom King and drawn by Bilquis Eveley.
However, in my opinion, rename the film of chapter one of DCU is the right decision. Supergirlist It has a much cleaner feeling. In addition, for comic devotees that are not DC who do not know that they will tell one of the best stories of Kara Zor-el in a live action format, its new title maintains an air of mystery about what its plot will really imply.
Then there is the fact that, unlike the most iconic DC heroes, including Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, there has only been another Supergirl movie: 1984’s. Supergirlistwhich starred Helen Slater and is available to transmit in Max. Therefore, the possibility of confusing viewers with a film titled identically more than 40 years after the debut on the silver screen of the Mest maiden should not be a great concern.
In general, I am quite happy that Supergirlist He has dropped his subtitle. He certainly comes out of the tongue better than his previous nickname, but his change of title means that I will need to give my Supergirl: Tomorrow’s Guide an important review. Fortunate of me, huh?
Supergirlist It will take the flight in cinemas around the world on June 26, 2026.
