ISLAMABAD:
Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed the long-standing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China during a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.
Minister Naqvi welcomed Ambassador Zaidong on his arrival and received strong condemnation from China over the recent terrorist attacks on civilians and security forces in Balochistan. The ambassador expressed his deep solidarity with the affected families and stressed that China “maintains its full solidarity” with Pakistan during this difficult time.
Ambassador Zaidong reiterated China’s firm stance against terrorism in all its forms and assured continued cooperation in Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.
Briefing the envoy, Minister Naqvi said the attacks in Balochistan were “organised and premeditated” but security forces responded quickly and effectively. He outlined ongoing operations as well as enhanced protection measures for Chinese citizens and projects across the country, and emphasized that the safety of Chinese citizens remains a top priority.
“A Special Protection Unit is being established exclusively for the security of Chinese citizens,” Naqvi said, adding that modern Chinese technology will further strengthen coordinated counter-terrorism operations.
The Minister also briefed Ambassador Zaidong on his recent visit to China and highlighted progress in security and development cooperation. Both sides held detailed discussions on counterterrorism, internal security and cybercrime, and agreed to deepen collaboration, particularly on intelligence sharing.
Reaffirming their commitment to the long-standing strategic partnership, the two officials emphasized that no adversary can undermine the friendship between Pakistan and China. Ambassador Zaidong thanked Pakistan for its security measures, while Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude for China’s continued support.
